Did you know – cracks, fractures, and fissures are all around you, but your eyes aren’t good enough to see them (unless they’re really developing)
The science of fracture and crack growth can get complex – but in essence, if a crack gets big enough and your loads are high enough, it will fracture. Equally, if you keep flexing and loading your crack, it will grow and then fracture.
Rest assured though – industry lives with cracks. At DOCAN, we have great experience working with cracks, growing them, arresting them and understanding them, and ensuring our designs have resistance to cracks, or understanding the life they have.
Enhancing fracture Analysis with Zencrack
This week we had some updates from Zentech – the developers of Zencrack (a fantastic tool we use). They have some excellent new developments coming down the pipeline which means we’ll be able to do even more – with elastomers, plastics, and other complex materials and methods.
