Ensuring structural integrity with CrackWISE and Zencrack

Using industry-leading tools enables consistently accurate results efficiently and safely.

For the last few years, we have been developing our capbility, skills and technology to take advantage of new processes being developed – particularly in areas such as hydrogen and CO₂.

In addition to that, we’re being asked more and more to consider defect tolerance specifically for crack like flaws, brittle and embrittled materials, metallic blistering and HIC / SIC, fatigue and fracture.

Conducting fracture assessments & creating FEA models

Within the domain of structural mechanics and in particular structural integrity, we use CrackWISE and Zencrack. Crackwise enables us to complete BS7910 codified Fracture Assessments, and Zencrack enables us to model these explicity within FEA, grow the crack using a Paris like method in full 3D with limited or no user intervention.

We could of course code our own BS7910 (or AP1579 / R6) FAD fracture assessments like many have done before (including some of our people), and we could create our own fracture models in Ansys or Abaqus. However, using technology means we can deliver quality and accurate consistent results in a manner which is more efficient, and safer.
