DOCAN often utilize elastic-plastic material properties to more accurately simulate material responses in our analyses.
Different FEA codes require material data in different formats, and so to streamline this aspect of FEA model definition, we have developed internal tools to generate the relevant material model for the FEA code being used.
To develop a tool which would quickly generate material stress-strain curve data for a range of different materials, which also followed the methods laid out in the design codes that we typically use for consultancy work.
To increase the functionality of the tool, it was intended to include an output function to format the data required to implement the nonlinear material data into the specified FE code.
The DOCAN solution
Using MAPLE’s mathematical notation, code calculations can be transferred identically and presented intuitively with clearly defined inputs and outputs for easily auditable, reusable, and presentable calculations.
MAPLE has a good selection of components that can be used to develop worksheet GUIs, allowing formatted, verified calculations to be quickly converted to clean and clear tools allowing limited input and calculation execution to produce an output as desired.
An interactive document has been produced to clearly and reliably calculate material data with options to reduce the resolution of data and produce output to import directly into selected FE software.
